  1. I just imagine how annoyed the villagers must have been with this asshat sneaking in and setting fires for 30 years. They jus see him in a bush an are like "goddam it bill!"

  2. This video does a good job at portraying the realities while keeping it light. It's amazing this man had this kind of dedication to his country and it is not unthinkable to be put in a situation where you believe the enemy is trying to use propaganda to lure you out of your hiding.

However, I am sorry to break it like this but this man must have been delusional. Or someone else in his group who then convinced him to keep on fighting, but he was the commanding officer so all blame falls down to him. If we take this mans actions simply as a result of patriotism then are we supposed to accept that all other Japanese men who surrendered were just cowards?

At the same time, it is rather strange that it took his commanding officer 30 years to decide to show up. Clearly the locals knew this man was a Japanese soldier for far longer. Why did nobody have the wits to send in an official from the army to come relieve the man of his duties?

This story is a lot sadder than it is heroic or manly. This story just shows how little the world cares sometimes. 30 civilians still died and nobody thought ''hey, let's send in the Japanese army. Let them clear up their own mess.''

Clearly these civilian farmers were not worth enough to come up with a plan that requires more than an IQ of 95. Jesus christ really. In the end a Japanese civilian cleaned up the mess.
