It's true, cardboard and needles are the biggest heroes of all time in product photography. But if you time and plan your shoot right, there is no need for fake food.

My neighbor in CT worked on Madison Avenue. He said nothing you see in an ad is what it appears, but that's OK because in a photo, you want to make things larger than life. Ice cream melts, food goes bad, vegetables aren't shiny, they know all the tricks. So next time you order that famous burger, just note how different it is from the ads…
