The Panzer II is quite surprising although only equipped with a 2 cm auto-cannon it was intended to give the Panzerwaffe a tank with anti-tank capability. Although even in 1940 the 3.7 cm guns turned out to be too weak against various tanks. Fact is the Panzer II was a stopgap solution, until the Panzer III and Panzer IV could enter mass production. There several more surprising facts about the Panzer II in this video, many taken from the German Army Field Regulations (Heeresdruckvorschriften). Additionally, we also look at how many Panzer II were used in the early to mid campaigns, namely Case White – Poland (1939), Case Yellow – France (1940) and Operation Barbarossa – Soviet Union (1941).

Blitzkrieg was carried out by light tanks. The famous big cats were few, unreliable and were used mostly in defense.
@Bernhard, on minute 10:53 the Panzer Orbat table shows the number of Panzer 35 (t) available in June 1941as 0, but it is my understanding that some were made available for the 6th Panzer Division.
I still dont get it, why is it not good? The title at least said so.
War Thunder really need to start copy some ideas of WoT like events , more cammos and better Ui and game engine.
Very interesting video. Didn't know they didn't use HE ammo in 1939.
Panzer II; backbone of the Blitzkrieg. lol.
6:39
The 20 and 30 kph footage was filmed in such a way that the Panzers look as if they are moving with at least twice the speed indicated.
The name of agricultural tracktor was treaty of Versailles
people: remember only panther, tigers, king tigers.*
Panzer II: sad noise intensifies
"We are the Knights who say 'Kni'! We want you to bring us a Gehölz!!!"
They named it "Landwirtschaftlicher Schlepper 100" to disguise it as a farm tractor in order to cheat the rules of the Versailles Treaty
Love this video. Big fan of the Panzer II. Built a C model not long ago.
Is it true that Hitler ordered all Pz III's to be fitted with the 5cm KwK before Barbarossa, and that this order was ignored, neglected?
1:34 As I know after the WW1 the Versailles treties did not allow Germany to design and make tanks or any arms (+ limited the number of the army and navy etc. – officially similar, just a few years delayed regulations was applied also on France who just ignored them). So the Germans simply called their tank designs "agricultural tractor" which looks better in statistics 🙂
Beföre
pz IV H is the soul mate for me 🙂
You have to take the output info fielded by the Germans with a grain of salt,,
Had to be deceptive in order to skirt restrictions of Versailles treaty
One of my Favorite Tanks ever.
love the panzer 2, would not want to fight a kv-1 in it tho
It surprises me on the casualness of all those conifer trees getting knocked down by the Panzers. I thought Germans had a reverence for trees and would take evasive measures to minimize the destruction of the trees.
The panzer 2 was not that useless even in late war period…it was used as defence against infantry while with other tanks like panzer 3 & pz4…
20mm with light armour and high mobility sounds like the ideal thing for chewing through hordes of troops. Seems like the ideal support tank for a heavy.
Love to see you review all ww2 tanks this way with War Thunder!
Wehr-Farming! Watch out for the wild boars!
I'm reading all the manuals of the Wehrmacht, The Tiger itself took about 80L of oil(transmission, turret and the engine) that is insane lol.
– als z.B. franz. mittelschwere Panzer u.a.! –
1:39 "I don't know but farming in the 1930's must have been quite a dangerous job." had me LOLing. .
So how Panzer II handled pot-shots from anti-tank rifles? And how they measured against more numerous T-26 and BT tanks?
Maybe the reason the Panzer s were called tractors was because Germany already had a fleet of 30-35,000 commercial tractors in Germany by 1935 , so sifting through gov files to find a few hundred panzer tractors would be a legal nightmare. Then theirs the "Semi Tractors ["Sd.Kfz." …a couple hundred by 1935]……
2:40, anyone willing to explain what the operational use of the tank was/is?
Lol, 1.6k hours in WT!
Well it is a very good game I guess!
I am at around 2k now. ^^
Such irony in the 1950ies was discovered that there are large tungsten occurences iun Austria. And those had been discovered in 1927…..
Bad playing!!!! pz ii C is my favourite !!!! My DAK got 13kills in 1 life ever. Dont use it. you dont suit !!!!!!!!!!!!!
This video makes me very suspicious of all those EU subsidises going to German farmers. Has anyone checked what’s under those meticulously stacked hay bales and in their barns? At over 5 billion Euros a year if there’s no panzers they’re getting screwed.
