Billie Eilish has taken the world by storm with her post-emo pop music. While she has performed Glastonbury and broken records for her Grammy wins, Eilish has also delved into the world of acting. The young singer even had a role in Diary of a Wimpy Kid – but who did she play?
Who did Billie Eilish play in Diary of a Wimpy Kid?
Billie Eilish did not play a particular role in the film but recorded background dialogue for crowd scenes, which was what she did for a number of other films.
Speaking on her career outside of music in Rolling Stone, Eilish revealed she had been on a number of auditions but opted for background work instead.
She told the publication: “I went on, like, two auditions.
“So lame. This creepy, cold room. All these kids that looked exactly the same.
“Most actor kids are psychopaths.”
Of course, Eilish’s love for recording was clear, as her role was ‘looping,’ or recording background dialogue for crowd scenes.
"I did Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Ramona and Beezus, X-Men.
“It was fun — a bunch of kids in a room yelling random things, and then we’d have a break and get snacks.”
So, while Eilish may not be physically seen in the movie, she is clearly present with her vocal stylings.
Originally, aged 13, Eilish had intended to become a dancer, joining a competitive dance company before an injury forced her out.
For her, that time was when she was least confident, surrounded by “really pretty girls.”
She said: “That was probably when I was the most insecure.
“I wasn’t as confident. I couldn’t speak and just be normal.
“When I think about it or see pictures of me then, I was so not OK with who I was.”
She also said this time was “the peak of my body dysmorphia” due to wearing tight, dance clothes.
However, her injury was what she believes triggered her depression, though shortly after her music career began to take off.
Eilish also was interested in visual art, using her father’s camera to make incredible images.
But eventually, it was music which became her main emotional outlet, and ultimate calling as she hit the big time by just 14-years-old.
Now, Eilish is doing very well in the music scene, with her only film credits including cameos or her own music videos.
