The government has “misunderstood the mood of the country” over free school meals, Sir Bernard Jenkin has said.
Asked on ‘Sophy Ridge on Sunday’ if the government is losing people over its handling of coronavirus, the Chair of the Liaison Committee said: “Oh, definitely, yes. The whole row about free school meals is a touchstone of how little faith a lot of people now have in the government’s conduct of this.”
Asked how he’d vote if the issue comes to the Commons again, he said: “I shall wait and see what the government says and how they respond to the situation.”
