What is Tuberculosis
Tuberculosis is a contagious disorder that is caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. It can spread from one person to another through the air via cough and sneeze droplets. It usually affects the lungs but can spread in other organs of the body, too, e.g., brain, bones, spine, etc.
In the early 20th century, tuberculosis was the leading cause of death in the US. When antibiotics developed, and the disease cases started to reduce a certain number of the population developed resistance against many of the antibiotics. It was classified as multi-drug resistant tuberculosis.
There are two types of tuberculosis, latent TB and active TB.
