Armenia and Azerbaijan agree on peace deal | DW News

Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia on Tuesday said they have signed a deal to end the military conflict over the disputed region of Nagorno-Karabakh. “I have signed a statement with the presidents of Russia and Azerbaijan on the termination of the Karabakh war,” Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said in a statement posted to his Facebook page. He also called the move “unspeakably painful for me personally and for our people.”

Araiyak Harutyunyan, the leader of the Nagorno-Karabakh region, said on Facebook that he agreed “to end the war as soon as possible.” Meanwhile, Armenian protesters angry over the agreement stormed the government headquarters in Yerevan, AFP news agency reported. Several thousand reportedly gathered outside the government building and a few hundred entered, ransacking offices and breaking windows. The declaration followed six weeks of heavy fighting and advancement by Azerbaijani forces. Azerbaijan said on Monday it had seized dozens more settlements in Nagorno-Karabakh, a day after declaring victory in the battle for its second-largest city. Azerbaijan says it has retaken much of the land in and around Nagorno-Karabakh, which it lost in a 1991-94 war that killed an estimated 30,000 people and forced many more from their homes. Several thousand people are feared killed in the conflict, and three ceasefires have failed in the past six weeks.

  2. Europe’s hypocrisy policies is that they support a peace-deal between Arab Countries and Israel and would never support peace deal between Armenia and Azerbaijan! Pure evil and hypocrisy

  3. Come on everyone of you !!! Cant you see what happens here ???!!! Why do you think Putin made this deal ?? Everything that Putin does is because of power !! If Putin helped Armenia then Turkey that helped Azeris whould not allow Russia to Bosporus .. And that is a big heat to the Russia !! Russia then wouldnt be able to ship around Europe and the other seas !! Neither to say the tzihand people that Turkey gave to Azeris for the war !! Azeris had a help from Turkey and we talk about 10.000.000 people that Azerbaitzan have and 4.000.000 Armenia have !! Its a 6.000.000 people difference !!! We all now what happened here !! Its the same thing that happens to Greece now !! Europe closes his eyes like Putin did with Armenia !!! Fist Armenia then Libya and Cyprus !! Guess who is next !! Shame on you Europe also Russia and USA !! You all pretend that you dont war but everyone of you really want it !!!

  4. that biased woman is underselling and misinformating. Azerbaijan did not gain any territories, it liberated its own territory. And it's not "framed as a victory", it IS a victory. Azerbaijan liberated all its occupied land, gained a corridor between discontinious lands, and will be paid huge amounts from armenia for occupation, terror acts, genocides and so on. Karabakh is not disputed, neither historically, nor by the international law. It's, by all means, Azerbaijan territory, and now finally free.

  5. This misconception that the Turkish military was part of the war is NOT TRUE. Turkey has extensive cooperation with Azerbaijan. But during the conflict, the only support Azerbaijan got was political official statements. They would only step in if a third part got involved. But even then Azerbaijan already had a very strong military power and did not receive any extra from allies like Turkey. They always had the advantage and power internally. Which Ilham Aliyev been looking after and now takes pride in. To liberate an area after 30 years without any shady business.

  6. Not a single bomb hit inside Armenians boarders. Because this was a mission to liberate occupied areas, give back homes to 1 million ethnically cleansed Azeris. And the greatest mission, organize an arrangement which will lead to long-lasting peace and cohabitation in these regions by both ethnicities. The war would have never happened if Armenia at some point had allowed cohabitation.

  7. This could play out eeringly similar in South Asia…..

A turkish drone backed Pakistan could do this to India

Or A Isreal drone backed India could do this to Pakistan.

Imran and Modi are getting ready for a show down…

    Long live the arms imdustry
