Gabrielle Christina Victoria a.k.a. Gabby Douglas is the first US-American artistic gymnast to win gold in both the individual all-around and team competitions at the same Olympic Games. She is also the first African American to become the Olympic individual all-around champion. After her two gold medals at both the all-around and team competitions at the 2012 London Olympics, Douglas also won Gold four years later at Rio 2016, where she was a member of the US gold-winning team, nicknamed the “Final Five” by the media, alongside Aly Raisman and Simone Biles. awww Aly was such a great captain that year! i loved that team. Gabby, like Shawn before her, had to do all 4 in TF, then nailed all 4 in AA.
i remember watching nationals and trials that year with my son, who was 8 at the time. he had a total crush on her. when i asked him who was goi g to win the olympics, he blushed and said,"Gabby!" i, the gym fan, said,"ru sure? what about Jordyn?" he just shook his head and said,"no, Gabby is gonna win. im sure."
