Criticism is mounting over Europe’s slow COVID-19 vaccination drive, with the European Union trailing well behind the United States, the United Kingdom and Israel.
Only a few weeks after inoculations started, some members of the bloc are already facing vaccine shortages.
The Dutch government came under heavy criticism from lawmakers on Tuesday over a COVID-19 vaccination plan that has the first shots set to be administered on Wednesday, making the Netherlands the last EU nation to begin vaccinations.
The Dutch delay mirrors the chaotic strategy overall across the EU.
The European Medical Agency has yet to approve the Moderna vaccine, which is already widely used in the US and the UK.
