Germany tightens lockdown restrictions: Are they legal? | DW News

Germany is extending its national coronavirus lockdown by three weeks in an effort to reduce stubbornly high infection and death rates. Chancellor Angela Merkel and regional leaders also agreed to tighten some restrictions – including curbs on social contacts and limits on people’s movements in the worst-affected regions. Germany’s latest official figures, showing over 21,000 new infections and a thousand deaths, underscored the situation’s urgency.
Private meetings will be limited to the members of a household and only one other person.
Where infections are high: people will be told to stay within 15 km of their home.
Schools & many shops will remain closed, and people arriving from outside Germany will need a corona test and have to spend at least 5 days in quarantine.
Restricting movement in infection hotspots could prevent a repeat of scenes like those at the weekend, when hundreds of people ignored police warnings and headed for ski slopes.
But so far it’s not clear how all the new rules will be enforced.
Hopes for progress in rolling back the pandemic now rest on vaccination. New vaccines are set to be approved, but it is expected to be many months before enough people are immunized.
For now, Germans face a longer lockdown, and no clarity about when it might be lifted.

  1. It is true that many working offices are full of people, who is not being careful at all with distance and mask usage.

And people on the streets they don't care about social distancing, and don't even think on wearing a mask.

  2. There's no cure for the Virus. That means this b.s. can and will be played out indefinitely. But for what end? Remember the "War on Drugs" and the "War on Terror". Those campaigns also had an end, and it sure wasn't to end drugs or terror! Look, no "cure" has been discovered for the other Corona Virus' has there? It's really obvious there's a strategy at play here and in a way, it matters little if it was planned or not. Either way, the Oligarchs can use the "crisis" for whatever end they please. Listen to the dissenting voices of thousands of SCIENTISTS. If that ain't good enough, then look at WHERE power and control is being consolidated. OR, look at who stands to win big….and who always seems to be on the losing end. If that ain't enough, well, then just follow the money! Maybe then you might get a clue as to what's really going on.

  3. They will find a way to people get the vaccine….."you dont want be lock? Take the vaccine. You want to travel?? Take the vaccine. Airlines you want compensation money? Make sure you demand the vaccine."
