The Robots Return, How Have Atlas, ASIMO, Cheetah, Spot and Pepper fared 4+ Years On?

About 4-1/2 years ago I did a video about the most advanced robots at the time, ASIMO, Atlas, Cheetah, Spot and Pepper. After seeing the Atlas dance video I thought it would be good to see what has happened to our famous five robots and what the future might be for legged robots and humanoid style robots.

  1. Want to get that good fear of robots going, in complete ignorance of Asimov's 'laws'? Watch Black Mirror episode 'metalhead'. That'll take care of you my pretty! It's a little dog, too!

  2. Asimo is creepy. And pepper (a companion for old people?) Ickkkk!!! Nothing says warm-and-fuzzy like plastic. I like Boston Dynamics' robots. They've got personality. Spot is adorable. Who wouldn't wanna dance with Atlas? (OK, from a distance…he might be clumsy. Wouldn't want that stepping on my feet!)

  3. It's scary how many people see these Boston Dynamics vids and say "WOW skynet is coming" (as well as going to show just how technologically illiterate people are as a whole.) We are nowhere near being able to create an AI even remotely comparable to traditional biological intelligence.
