  1. You should search further away from center, prices drop quite a bit. That 400 eur apartment is crap compared to what you can get a bit farther away in New Belgrade. Everything around center of Belgrade is crazily overpriced imho, especially when you can get much better and quitter location if you sacrifice 10-20 mins for traveling depending if you use city transport or car. And the best thing is that whenever you are, you will always have shops and bakeries near you, especially in New Belgrade. And yeah, its my favorite part of the city because of that and how spacey and full of greenery and parks it is. Especially if you have occasional anxieties and ocd like I do and dont like all of that rush and rat race feel of the city center XD
As for the all those apartment bills, everything except electricity bill comes combined in one bill from Infostan. But if you rent some house then all bills come separate on quite random day of the month.
As for the paying, you can pay in any bank/post office and there are plethora of exchange offices where you can pay all of your bills so you dont have to waste time waiting in the banks/post offices.

  3. My recommendation is to look for an apartment in New Belgrade, newer buildings and cheaper than downtown and it˙s still just 10 minutes from city center. You can pay all of your bills online, no need to go to the post office.

  4. One thing I can say about renting in Serbia is that, for what I can hear, you're working online, so you don't need to be specifically in Belgrade which is by far the most expensive, especially city central (300-1000 per month, depending on the area). Further away from center, price goes down to 150 or so… But hear this… for example cities like Ruma, Sremska Mitrovica, Sabac, Arandjelovac are all within 1h drive from Belgrade and in each you can find huge places for 30-150 euros per month… Now, I know everyone wants Belgrade, but trust me, from Belgrade born and raised advice, it's about the people, not location… Feel free to change your opinion and place, don't take anything for 6 months or a year that fast, and keep searching until you find what ever it is you want…
