Two Ways to Launch Missiles #shorts

The US Navy is moving away from “arm launchers” and toward “vertical launch systems”. In this #shorts video, we only scratch the surface as to why this decision was made, and it’s #NotWhatYouThink, or is it?!

  1. I work with and install the VLS on DDG ships. Very cool system and a lot of work to get them operating. Not to mention the 5 inch gun in front of the VLS. and there is the 50 cal wiz gun behind it. Along with many more weapons, torpedoes, missile launchers and guns on this ship.

  2. Not only the Launchers on turrets have a lot of moving parts but the magazine can take a long time to reload the launcher the missile is also exposed to enemy fire not only it will blow the exposed missile but can cause a chain reaction sinking a ship who carries it various ships used it except cruisers which replaced it with the VLS which have less moving parts and can carry both more missiles and more types of missiles which is still used to this day
