  1. @Dylan Drake
The United States came to Japan for whaling, not for trade. And the United States did not trade fairly with Japan. The United States intended to treat Japanese people the same as Native Americans. Other Western nations also aimed to make Japan a colony. But, the American Civil War broke out, and European nations were unable to invade Japan due to multiple wars and their economic consequences. Japan quickly modernized the military in the meantime. The model for the Japanese Navy is the United Kingdom and the model for the Japanese Army is Prussia. Last Samurai is fantasy.

  2. Christianity is not a western belief lol. it came from the middle east in israel. rooted from jewish religion. but native americans as well as asians think its a white mans religion. Catholicism yes, but not Christianity.

  3. Japan – Is isolationist
USA – Ends isolationism by forcing them to trade
    Japan – Becomes an empire
USA – Refuses to trade with japan
    Japan – Attacks USA
USA – Defeats Japan and imposes a Constitution.
Japan – Becomes 3rd largest economy in the world.

  4. I saw a movie in school back in the early 2000s. The movie was a bit older. It was about the first american to visit Japan after sakoku. I can't remember the name, it is driving me nuts.
