Dozens of Thai activists face anti-monarchy charges | DW News

The ongoing civil unrest in Thailand has not gone away, and in fact, many of the leaders of the pro-democracy demonstrations throughout 2020 are now in court facing years in prison. In Amnesty International’s big annual report on the state of human rights around the world, the entry for Thailand talks about widespread repression, and the use of enforced disappearances. This includes the case of Wanchalearm Satsaksit who disappeared while living in exile last year. He’s yet another suspected victim of the Thai authorities’ assault on dissent.

  2. Wow a lot of governments in Asia don't take criticism so well. Please understand this: not allowing criticism is very childish, and is not the type of government that fully actualized human beings can respect. 2020 was definitely the year of the dictators. Let's make 2021 and beyond a year of the people.

  3. Such reaction disqualifies the leading regime from even being legitimate.
A good government will listen to the people and try to adress their concerns, if those concerns include the type of government a confident government would allow a process which could lead to change and by that have a chance to influence its outcome. Now the only outcome i as an outstander would hope for is the removal of such illegitimate regime. Only the people can give a government legitimacy no matter its type/form and structure.
