  1. Wow, these muppets know nothing, planes take time to develop. The F22 has now been around for 30 years, and will still be the no1 fighter in the world for another 20 years. the F35 has been around for 25 years, and most 4th gen are from 50 years ago. The most recent red flag games had the F35 with a 18 to 1 kill ratio, each plane costs twice as much as the latest F14,15 or 16. 8 F35 went up against 20 4th gen, result splash 20 4th gen with 0 F35 seen let alone killed. I would not trust TYT to buy a computer

  2. I agree totally. Its time to stop calling it a jobs program. That's the "get out of jail free card" that gets played and it always works. Its even used by those most critical of the program. Jobs program? Lets think about that. Engineers? What do you think about that? When pushed into a corner and forced to explain themselves they blame you! The engineers. There's just too many of you and not enougth useful things for you to do? I don't believe that. Its a profit program. To sume up. If you charge a plumber by the hour? Don't be surprised if they take a week to change a tap!

  3. The same government mentality that produced the F-35 today, also produced the F-111. What these aircraft have in common? That word "muli-role." Different missions for different aircraft, is the reality. Because every vehicle and aircraft confronts the laws of physics and aerodynamics. Each is a different series of performance and materials compromises. A fact, that corrupt, ignorant and uncaring politicians don't want to understand. Different types of mission parameters means an aircraft capable of lifting huge amounts of bombs and missiles into the air. Can't be a good fighter! But politicians are those who expect to have their cake, and eat it too.
As soon as I learned the the Pentagon's "Joint Strike Fighter" program. I knew that we were back in boondoggle land. Instead of 6 different planes for 6 different missions. Congress in it's express magnificence; would mandate it! Because politics demands one magic plane; to do ALL six missions! This is possible because Congress commands it! Just like the F-35? The F-111 was supposed to be the IT plane for the 1970's. In essence an F-14, F-15, and A-6, all in one fabulous airplane! It was too big to be any kind of a maneuverable fighter. It could reach Mach 2.5 eventually. Any other fighter could out climb, out maneuver and out fight it. So? It became a fantastic low level bomber. Not worth half the money spent on it.
No one had to tell me, the F-35 is a boondoggle. The laws of physics and aerodynamics, DEMAND it! Yes, you can put bomb racks and rocket pods on a great fighter. Then call it "muli-role," but it's not the same thing! You can put a Radar like a AWG-9, on a B-52, attach AIM-54 Phoenix missiles in it's bomb bays. Then launch them at incoming aircraft. You could even say that B-52, is multi-role now. But that bomber, will never be a fighter.
So Congress mandated a POS boondoggle for our military. So? It's time to get real. What can it do? How fast can we build good mission specific aircraft to replace it? Or ideally work around it's short comings? Before that can happen? The lies, and public opinion "damage control" publicity has to end.

  4. We are still producing upgraded F-16's and F-15's that sell like hot cakes and still kick butt. F-35 was a perfect example of politics over practicality, exact same issue with the SLS (space launch system) which is burning pile of money because congress is forcing NASA to use old space shuttle boosters. The cold war was crazy but at least we made real tech with our dollars, not just line pockets.

  5. So… Are these guys somehow military strategy experts? Airforce pilots that know how modern air combat works? Airplane engineers, that know how planes work? Project managers, that understand how the development of enormous programs works and is managed? Are they experts in anything beyond talking? While some of that they say may be valid, a lot is pretty much nonsense and populist tripe. Yes, the US should spend less money on the military and more on social programs, and yes, this project could have been done better, but that doesn't mean their blanket statements make any sense.

  6. The way how the system works has always been when something costs a lot and doesn't work, the defense companies will direct their politicians to make things up, to blame other countries, to create heated conflicts in a region. The US will then act as a big brother, get rid of these junks by pushing them to their ally little brothers at big prices… Thereafter, everyone will be diverted to focus on the conflicts and completely forget about what happened to their money… Case closed.

  7. Now that the US can no longer afford this expensive buggy F35, they are designing yet another fighter called the F36… It is only an upgrade from F15/F16, and not even a 5th generation fighter. It even has to copy some of its designs from the Chinese J10c fighter.

  8. Then you can say F16, F15 and F18 are all failures..
    Guess what they arent.
They still serve a purpose as a deterrant. Battlefields constantly change.
How many power plant changes since inception of original F16 and F18..?

  9. The "high end" conflict is the one against peer adversaries such as Russia and China. Obviously no-one wants such a conflict to actually occur. The best way to prevent this from happening is to have weapons and equipment that will deter potential enemies. The F35 is sufficiently advanced to make this the case at present and for the next decade or so. Obviously the cost overruns and technical issues need to be forced out of the system – but are hardly unusual (see EMALS)!

  10. I don't Agree with most of what she said which is weird cause I usually like the young turks….. Anyways, The F-35 program was slow, lots of money was wasted as usual, and the program did have a ton of issues but that's an issue with the way the military system is setup to procure new weapons in todays government. The F-35 itself has actually been seen as widely successful despite all the delays, a lot of new tech was developed and the F-35 if a highly capable platform. The proof is in the pudding, tons of countries want it, but not all can have it. It will be a good deterrent to those who are pushing for war. The more countries like China and Russia see the advanced weaponry being developed by the US the less chance they will actually attack us, our allies, or democracy.

  11. Wow everyone's a defense expert nowadays. Some people are very serious on compromising the U.S.A's lead in war fighting capabilities. "Epic disaster" "Junk" "Burn trillions" "Complete disaster" "Garbage" Is just empty words. I am not even a U.S citizen but I am damn sure these "The Young Turks" have vested interest.

  12. Poor US Americans. Fed on domestic propaganda on how they are the greatest, and everyone is out to get them.
So now a child is more likely to die before the age of one if they are American citizens, than if they are Cuban national. But hey they have the military to still poor Country oil to enrich their elite

  13. Spending supports JOBS , which then supports POLITICIANS , who then give tax breaks and green light increased spending to the DEFENSE industries , who then give huge DONATIONS to the politicians…..rinse and repeat. President Eisenhower warned us to no avail.
