The Hindu priest struggling to cremate India’s Covid dead

RamKaran Mishra is a Hindu priest who performs the last rites at the Ghazipur crematorium in east Delhi, on the frontline of India’s Covid crisis. He’s been cremating up to 150 bodies day after day, working long hours into the night. With no end in sight, and feeling abandoned by his government, Mishra must deal with traumatised families and an ever-present smell of burning bodies

  1. What a disaster. This virus could have been much more deadly. However it tore corrupt governments (USA, India, Brazil, etc.) to shreds and showed the world the dangers of a corrupt government.

  2. Does anyone here ever thing how many trees are cut down for the funeral pyre… As many people died from covid-19 so also the earth is dying with many trees that need to be cut

  3. I have no compassion for people who drink water from the Ganges River. Of course, the first temptation that comes to your mind when you see a human corpse floating in the river is to drink from the water.

  4. Heartbroken for my country. We can thank our prime minister for spending 3500 cr on a worthless Statue when that money could have been streamlined in the Healthcare system

  5. Predictable af!!!
When you have elections with 100k+ people attending rallies and hold kumbh mela with 3.1 million taking communal baths in river in the name of religion, what do you except.

  6. My friends in India are telling me that people are dying due to starvation caused by lockdowns, these are crimes against humanity. I encourage you to speak to people or family in India instead of listening to the mainstream media.

  7. I understand that MPS’ and people stop wearing mask and keeping distances. Even today if you look around 30% of people are not wearing masks and gloves and blaming the government.
Taking all assets from all temples and Masjid government should build hospitals and courts. India don’t have enough hospitals and courts.
