  2. Barbarossa would have succeeded if they either went straight to oil fields or Moscow, however Guderian and Rommel would have had to stay in power. I think their command is actually more crucial than whatever piece of land the Germans were able to take. Germans had some of the best commanders and Guderian was well aware of supply problems that only got worse with his exit. Also post Guderian saw the explosion of magnificent tank models instead of a small handful of highly modular tanks, which was what Guderian tried to warn command about.

  3. "We will not capitulate. No, never! We may be destroyed, but if we are we shall drag a world with us – a world in flames." All those lives sacrificed because a monster could not admit defeat.

  4. Panzerfaust, a surprisingly ingenious and effective weapon. The single use flamethrower? Not so much. Highly, highly dangerous to the user, and unpredictable.

  5. Intensifying the holocaust from March 1945? Poland had already been ‘liberated’ by the Soviets since January 1945 and all the extermination camps were in Poland.

  6. Just a little nitpick you might want to reconsider, there's new evidence suggesting that Goebbels most likely didn't know about the holocaust per se except for the execution of Soviet and Polish jews, saying that "he convinced a nation that millions of innocents just had to die" might be wrong. The source is a book called "Auschwitz: investigación sobre un complot nazi". And of course I have no intention to forgive or attone such terrible crimes from such a terrible person, but accuracy is what we strive for.

  7. I like the Crack addict/mad scientist look of Hitler in the thumbnail. I can just imagine him snort a fat mountain and then tell everyone about his plan like a giddy schoolboy.

  8. Don’t forget to talk about the war crimes committed by the Allies in Germany. People tend to forget that Germany weren’t the only ones committing war crimes and thus justify what happened to the German people during the end of the war and also after.
