A Belarusian activist has been found dead in neighbouring Ukraine, a day after he was reported missing. 1. It's incredible the events that have occurred in the 21st century that would've otherwise led to war in the 20th century. Is our modern-day approach to appeasement the right strategy?

  2. Even without evidence, it is very obvious the Belorussian government was behind this. Given how the victim helps his people then suddenly commits suicide. Doesn't make sense.

  3. I live in the Philippines. Our president has gotten some flak for his drug policy but I don't think any opposition figure has been killed like this. The worst that was done against opposition — cases were being filed. But no political assassinations like this.

(One opposition senator, Ms. Leila de Lima, is jailed for her acts as Justice Secretary in the last government; she is accused of making deals with drug dealers. There is also Ms. Maria Ressa who is facing cases of libel and tax evasion. But she's out on bail and her online newspaper can still publish.)

I hope it never happens here. The current President enjoys the support of the people so I guess there is no real need for oppressive policy. Seeing what these other dictators resort to makes my stomach turn.

  4. When is Germany going to stand up? Germany is the economic, and political power of Europe, sure the past haunts it just as the past should haunt the British and Soviet Empires!
