The Russian Slava class cruiser is often called an aircraft killer. But why? It has to do with the cruiser’s P-1000 Missile system.

  1. Good theory, but they'd have to get in range first and then actually function correctly. The early warning A/C (E2D) would give away the cruiser's position, then F35s and/or super 18s along with tomahawks from escort surface ships would take care of the threat long before the cruiser would be in range. A/C carries don't travel alone and surface ships aren't the only ones in the carrier group……

  2. I served on a aircraft carrier and I promise you none of those missiles are getting through you really downplayed the anti ordnance systems we have and you missed quite a few defensive measures we have that would not let them get close

  3. If it reaches this stage it will be a full on nuclear war , China and Russie are playing Russian Roulette , Ukraine and Sth China Sea , and the West gives into it .

  4. Hence the Russian production of the zircon hypersonic missile. Suffice to say that many fewer would be shot down just because of the higher speeds. Also, a close and weapon system isn't going to do much against current supersonic missiles with 1,000 kg warheads. Against a hypersonic weapon, 20 mm rounds might as well be BBs.

If it got that close it would be met by aircraft if they started firing the planes would chew it to pieces the carrier would launch all craft there group would be destroyed by the first planes that met it any back up ships too the full carrier attack would destroy the naval group that attacked our carrier

  6. The narrator forgot the step where air launched Harpoon missiles turn the Slava into an artificial reef 200 miles before it reaches firing range. A carriers strike range is about 650 miles. For a ship designed to "attack and kill aircraft carriers", I think I've found a significant design flaw.
