  1. An der Uni, das Klopfen auf dem Tisch zum ersten mal war sehr verwirrend. Ich habe es nicht direkt mit der Vortragsende verbinden können, sondern dachte, passiert jetzt was besonderes 😀 Aber ja dann es war halt sozusagen klatschen 😛

  2. My recently deceased grandmother was from Brandenburg and while she spoke English as a primary language, she spoke almost exclusive German to her parents, around the house. Now that she’s gone, I see that so many mannerisms she had, which I thought were exclusive to her, were in fact commonly “German “.

  3. I saw the knocking in the show Charite! The rest are pretty similar to gestures in USA but I don’t quite get the knocking kn a restaurant to greet your friends?

  5. Loved this video! One gesture that would've confused me would've been the eye-pulling, "it's a joke". I've never seen that gesture here in the US, but in Costa Rica, my native country, it means "Ojo!", which is Spanish for "eye", however, you'd do this in a subtle manner to someone else when you want them to pay attention to something going on around them, without attracting everyone else's attention. You can also use it to signal to someone "watch me, see what I'm going to do". I'm not sure if other Lat Am countries use the same gesture with the same meaning, though.
