Obsessive, illuminating, high-stakes: why investigative journalism matters

An ensemble cast of Guardian reporters and editors reflect on why investigative journalism is so important for a healthy democracy and what it feels like, on a more personal level, to be going up against powerful governments, tax-dodging billionaires, institutional racism, human rights abuses and more

  1. Investigative journalism, like justice, should be blind, but we see more and more these days stories being ignored because they are considered inopportune.

  2. I think you mean the Guardian is dedicated to "ideological" investigative journalism based on what I've seen of your reporting. Whatever happened to "objective" investigative journalism? I would think Project Veritas is pretty close but yeah they too seem to let ideology steer them as well. So sad.

  3. An awful lot of redacted documents in the Pandora Papers. An awful inability for the public to search these documents. And not many US American politicians mentioned. This is why Assange is locked up.

  4. The Guardian was defanged after wiki leaks and has been an establishment tool ever since. Never forget it was the Guardian the so called left paper that did more to lie and smear Corbyn doing more damaged to him that virtually any one else. Fk the Guardian. We won't forget that when it really mattered you sided with the establishment against the people.

  5. I donated to The Guardian once but won't ever again. The way it led the Corbyn pile-on was an utter disgrace. Plus, when Katharine Viner took over there was an obvious pivot toward presenting masculinity as intrinsically toxic – hope the other half of the population will be happy funding you.

  6. Shame this video is ruined by the dreadful music mixed far too loudly. I didn't make it past 20 seconds. Can we just listen to your journalists speak (which is after all the most important thing)? I don't need anything else.

  7. Only the media not controlled by government or big corporates and having a sense of responsibility and service can delve into investigate journalism. Love you Guardian.

  8. three weeks ago we were learning to live with the virus now we're back to being blamed for it. this psychological abuse is criminal and there will be consequences.
