I really don't get what you mean here ? Risks ? I have read the book many times and watch the movie at least dozen times. to be sure both in term of Comic and Movies are wonderfully great. Hugo Weaving gave what no one could give to the V's character and the script written so well that I could've not agreed more. the leading role you mentioned wasn't a leading role as you see he was inadequate. but the lines and the way the created it cinematically was immaculate.
What a sad story I really enjoyed this movie but now knowing what had happened I may never watch it again

This video is 100% false. As a member of the crew who worked on this film, the original V (James Purefoy) left the movie because he could not stand to play a character where he could not express his facial actions as an actor. He complained about this process everyday on the film until he finally ended up quitting. James Purefoy was NOT fired, he left on his own. At that point Hugo Weaving was called and as a favor dropped what he was doing and came in to play V. This is fact and not fiction. LOOK IT UP!
