Why do people hate Insulate Britain? Inside the controversial protest movement

Guardian reporter Damien Gayle spent two months with the environmental campaigners Insulate Britain as they blocked motorways, glued themselves to road networks, got arrested multiple times and defied injunctions banning them from the highways – infuriating everyone from drivers, to cyclists and presenters on breakfast TV. He finds out what drives them, how they plan for key actions, and asks what’s next after nine activists are jailed for blocking the M25

  1. It is not about "insulation" – or any other matter these middle-class anarchists come up with. It is just about wanting to cause trouble for ordinary people. And Guardian supports this with a long, admiring report.

  2. They do this because they're bored and lonely and it's pathetic. Once again the pampered, coddled, elitist class acts like a bunch of five year olds, and makes the working class pay for it.

  3. The trouble is, that all time is relative. The lady said she wanted the world to be like when she was young, but what was that world really like? Admittedly I feel nostalgic about my youth too, but let's have a realistic look at it. Was it really "better" as such? There have been huge advances in medicine, technology etc etc. I dont think the world was "better" back then, I just think it was different and our consciousness tends to remember the sunny days before the horrors of adulthood encompass us.

  4. The people is what MAKES change. That why they are sitting on busy roads, cause unless you slam the problem in their face they won’t see it. Even the one biker said it “it’s doing something, you are staring to pay attention arent you?”
