For every gargantuan stadium or stratospheric skyscraper that makes it off the architect’s drawing board onto the real-world skyline, hundreds never see the light of day. Perhaps they’re too expensive, or impractical to build with the available technology of the day. Some were always insane, while others could deserve a second hearing.

You missed Jacque Fresco and his Utopia which was even highlighted by Larry King in the 70s.

Afaik, one of the main problems with supertall buildings is the need for central elevator shafts. SIEMENS has solved this problem, they build real life turbolifts! But so far, afaik, no one has used them…

Crystal island in Moscow would never be built, not a chance: since the loss of financial backing, the potential site has been sold and an amusement park (Island of Dreams) now stands there
