Yellow Card Offence? Nigel Owens reviews Wallabies vs. Springboks Key Decisions | Whistle Watch

Rugby returned to the Northern Hemisphere over the last few weeks with Premier 15s and RWC2021 European Qualifiers, but it is the south where the big talking points of the week come from. Nigel Owens returns in Whistle Watch, as usual, and this week he looks back at the key decisions in the Wallabies vs. Springboks game, as the Rugby Championship took an unexpected turn! He also takes on the challenge ‘side hustle’ and as always answers your questions of the week!

  1. Australia played very dirty took vermeulen out in the air at least 5 no arm tackles illegal scrumming sorry but ausies played very dirty to win by 2 points such a shame actually

  2. Good day Mr Owens. I find the mauls in rugby boring. I have also notice the player binding at the end (the hooker) lose his bind for a second when receiving the ball at the back of the ball. It happens alot. And Hookers sometimes take the ball at the back first with both hands and then bind with one hand (is this not illegal because he was detached from the maul when receiving the ball). Should they not bind first with one hand and then take the ball with the other hand remaing attached to the maul maul?

  3. Le Roux clearly went for the Interception.
this was never more than a Knock-on and therefore a Scrum.
illegal Scrums, illegal feeding the Scrums, forward Passes order of the Day now, Off-sides especially the Backlines, entering the Ruck from the Sides…
this pathetic Refereeing is killing the Sport !

  4. Question for Nigel:

Did you see what happened at the end of the Waikato vs Canterbury game on Friday in the NZ NPC? Did you think Fletcher Smith started moving or not for his decisive kick?

  5. Why is the absolutely no consistent with the games because their were dump truck tackle in both games on Sunday 12th September and only one of them received a yellow card when both should have. Nic Berry miss the Argentinian Number 11 doing an illegal tackle.

  6. It is impossible to tackle a big man with your arms first, this is what annoys most. The running player is allowed to drop his shoulder and bulldozer the tackler, but the tackler is not allowed to use his shoulder to bring the man down. It's a complete, grey area that's spoiling the game. Yes I agree that the tackler cannot make contact to the head with the shoulder but all the rest should be fair play.

  7. These rules are made up by people who have never tackled a man in their lives. Too many grey areas spoiling the game. Also If the ball is in the air and the guy that jumps lands poorly in the contest, then it's too bad. As long as both players have eyes on the ball, then there is nothing to answer for. Game lacks common sense.
