  1. I didn't know english soldiers have toilets in their tanks and washing facilities. I also didn't know they drink tea and eat breakfast in their armored combat vehicles. but it fits the cliche in a way, i guess.

  2. We like to think tanks were decisive in WW1 but German defense doctrine treated them mainly as nuisances and considered any infantry escorting them to be the real danger. The 'Elastic Defense' doctrine of defense in depth with maneuver and well-timed counterattacks was designed in 1917 to conserve manpower mainly by Ludendorf. Tanks were seen as something that artillery could deal with and little thought was put into anti-tank weapons. This disregard caught up with German doctrine when they found out how pitifully underpowered their early Paks were. There were after-action reports of infantry divisions writing about their Pak units getting literally 'flattened out' by T-34's.

  3. 4:00 My grandfather was in the trenches at Neuville-Vitasse, near Arras, and never complained about the lack of toilet or shower facilities.

He told me he met my grandmother out there. She was shot in Arras: couldn't sit down for months.

  4. Just gonna throw this out there … the amount of horse power developed by the engine pretty much doesn’t matter. You didn’t provide the torque figure and that’s the number that DOES matter. Most cars produce about the same torque as HP. The Harley you’re taking about produces about 94 foot pounds of torque (about 128 newton meters of force).

A modern Prius (known for being a boring car) is 138hp and 105ft/lbs torque.

Torque is the rotational force the engine creates. This is basically responsible for the car’s ability to accelerate at low speeds. That’s generally what matters. The horse power figure is important for achieving a given top speed (accelerating at high speed). And of course gearing plays a part.

When you move a lot of weight, torque is what you want. As an example a dump truck (obviously very heavy) may only have about 300hp and may have 4 times that amount as torque. A world class super sport motorcycle may have 200hp and 81 ft/lbs of torque.

  5. You show me what modern day Harley Davidson motorcycle has 150 hp and I'll stop riding super sport bikes, today. Dont say the PanAm1250 cuz that's not your average Harley…
