Photographer Hendrik Kerstens’ only photo model: his daughter Paula.
As they both share a passion for 17th century Dutch paintings, they bring portraits by the old masters back to life in their photos.
Sometimes, all it takes is a plastic bag.
Since 1995, photographer Hendrik Kerstens has been taking portraits of his daughter Paula in the style of a medieval painting.
Despite the simplicity of the materials, this long-term project has yielded some astonishing pictures, some of which are reminiscent of very famous works.

Cool gal, phaque art
How This Woman Brings Ancient Artworks Back To Life – In A Modern Way 1825pm 2.4.22 absolutely. excellent!! i love these images… i was harping on about this image creator many years ago… there isn't much to be said… unless yer discussing the pros and cons of absurd imagery or the fact that no one seems to think twice about the head gear. the viewer does a double take if causally glancing, as most viewers do, at these as to whether they're paintings or whether it's to ascertain if that is a handkerchief on her bonce etc etc etc…. p.s the idea is eternal (as you suggested) – i doubt you could exhaust the amount of things to stick on her head. i am finding the very amusing. and, ok, perhaps i should buy a book…? maybe DW should have created a longer documentary featuring these two? have you created a cheese series? a food series would be interesting…
Uitstekend!
Zuper
I just hope the father didn’t do anything wrong in her childhood because I really hope.
Stunning natural beauty.
